Family Holiday Gathering
Join us on Wednesday, December 10th from 4:30-6:30 at the Friendship Community Center for holiday festivities. We will provide dinner, an opportunity to meet Santa, cookie decorating, and some fun crafting projects. We would like all the families to register so that we have enough crafts and food for all. Thank you!

Families Together
Another session of Families Together is starting in October! We would love for you to join us. Please register here and spread the word to Leelanau Families.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
In 1995, Dolly Parton launched an exciting new effort, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, to benefit the children of her home county in East Tennessee, USA. Dolly’s vision was to foster a love of reading among her county’s preschool children and their families by providing them with the gift of a specially selected book each month. Registered children from age 0-5 will receive a book mailed to them with their name on it each month – how fun!
When you register for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and live in Leelanau County your registration is processed by Parenting Communities staff. Please reach out with any questions.
Baby Feeding Support Group
Join us at this on Thursdays. This free support group welcomes all Leelanau families with babies up to 12 months old (and their older siblings).

Mom Power & Fraternity of Fathers
We are looking forward to offering these programs again in 2026. If you are interested in attending please fill out this interest form (completing the form does not guarantee a spot in the program, but is a great first step). Read below for more information about both programs.
What is Mom Power?
Mom Power is a 10-week, 13-session evidence-based program. The Mom Power Activities (Pillars) include, in a warm, non-judgmental environment:
- Parent Education of attachment-based needs
- Enhanced social support
- Skill development of Self-Care and Stress-Reduction skills
- Support of Parent-Child Interactions
- Connection to social support and to resources (i.e., case management needs, mental health and developmental referrals).

Mom Power uses The Tree as a metaphor to discuss the child’s needs for growing and branching out, as well as for connecting and building roots as a foundation for healthy and safe child development.
Mom power is a program created by Zero to Thrive, a multidisciplinary center at University of Michigan. You can find more information about the program here, a great article about implementing the program and the participants results, and this video testimonial from moms who have completed the program.
What is Fraternity of Fathers?
Fraternity of Fathers is a 10-week program specifically tailored for dads of young children. The program uses adventure therapy principals to deliver attachment theory based concepts in an interactive, fun, and supportive format. This program was created by Zero to Thrive, a center at University of Michigan. You can explore more information about FOF on the Zero to Thrive site, and the flyer below.

If you are interested in joining us for either program please complete our initial interest form. Completing the form does not guarantee a spot in the program, but is a great first step. A staff member will reach out to you before March 31 to discuss if this opportunity is a good fit for your family.
