Adriana- Community Health Worker

Adriana (Adri) is from Bogota, Colombia, and is bilingual. She is married, has a 5-year-old daughter and beautiful Husky named Eyssa. Adri has been living in Northern Michigan since 2017. She has a bachelor’s degree in speech and language pathology with a postgraduate degree in audiology. During the years that she worked in her home country as an audiologist, she had the opportunity to interact with diverse populations and multicultural groups. She has always focused on the well-being and specific needs of each person. She joined Parenting Communities in November 2021 and is eager to support parents and children by assessing their needs and supporting them at this important point in their lives. Being part of the Parenting Communities team has given her the opportunity to learn from each of the families she works with and has given a special meaning to her life as a mother.

Jodi- Community Health Worker

Jodi Garcia has lived and worked in Leelanau county two separate chapters of her life. In this chapter she hopes to expand her service and dedication to the surrounding community. She also advocates and volunteers with the Habitat for Humanity Leelanau/Grand Traverse region, and is a homeowner through the program. She enjoys landscaping her new home, rock hunting, making people laugh and sharing funny cat videos with her teenage son.

Courtney- Clinical Social Worker

Courtney is a mother of two and a clinical social worker with an endorsement in Infant Mental Health. Her passion for supporting caregivers’ and children’s mental health, wellbeing, relationships, and community-building led her to join the Parenting Communities team in 2021. Prior to this, she worked with school-aged children and has 10+ years of experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds. Her own experience of starting a family and seeing the need for both family- and community-based support motivated her to return to school to complete her Master of Social Work (MSW) so that she could do more to support children and families in the community. Courtney loves the outdoors, swimming, reading, disc golfing, spending time with loved ones, and drinking a good cup of tea. She is honored to companion families as they navigate the joys and challenges of raising children and comes to this role with the understanding that every family has strengths and is deserving of living the lives they desire, within a community that cares for all its’ young children and families.
